Mamata's allegations 'insulting, humiliating': WB Guv.
Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], July 5 (ANI): West Bengal Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi on Wednesday said the allegations levelled by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee are humiliating and insulting to his office. "The allegations of the Chief Minister amount to insulting and humiliating the Governor and his Office," a press release from the Raj Bhavan read. Governor Tripathi reiterated that he did not utter a single word to insult or threaten Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Mamata Banerjee yesterday accused Governor Tripathi of making threats against her and abusing her. She also alleged that the Governor was behaving like a "BJP block president". Following her remarks, Trinamool Congress secretary general Partha Chatterjee said the Governor was crossing the constitutional line, adding that the Governor's residence could not be Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) office. Tripathi dubbed Chatterjee's statements as an attempt to cover the lapses of the State Government and diverting the attention from the main issue of law and order. Commenting on the Governor office becoming a BJP office, the statement said, "The Governor is of the view that Raj Bhavan is not a Department of the State Government and it is open to every citizen to approach him for redressal of his or her grievances. It is wrong to say that Raj Bhavan has become the office of the BJP or the RSS." The release further stated that the Governor opined that instead of making accusations against him, it is better for the Chief Minister and her colleagues to direct their attention to maintain peace and law and order in the state without making any distinction on the basis of caste, creed or community.
