Mamata Banerjee neither believes in the Constitution nor the Court:Sukanta Majumdar

"Mamata Banerjee has no faith in the judiciary. A few days ago when the Calcutta High Court gave its verdict that the practice of giving reservations to Muslims in the name of OBCs, is against the soul of our Constitution and hence unconstitutional, Mamata Banerjee said that it is BJP's verdict. She also said that she was against the verdict. The Chief Minister who does not obey the High Court will not obey the Supreme Court in future. She neither believes in the Constitution nor the Court," Majumdar said speaking to ANI on Saturday.

Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], June 29 (ANI): After West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee remarked at a programme in Kolkata that judges should be free from political biasedness, Union Minister of State Sukanta Majumdar said that the Trinamool Congress supremo has no faith in the judiciary and does not even obey the court's verdict.
She neither believes in the Constitution nor the Court," West Bengal BJP President Dr. Sukanta Majumdar said speaking to ANI on Saturday.
The Chief Minister was speaking at a program organised by the National Judicial Academy and the Calcutta High Court in which Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud and Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court TS Sivagnanam also participated.
On Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's remarks against the Governor, Majumdar said, "The way the Chief Minister has given derogatory statements against the Governor is an insult against the Constitution and the Raj Bhavan."
The standoff between the Governor and the state's ruling Trinamool over the oath ceremony of the two newly elected Trinamool MLAs, has triggered again after the remarks of Kunal Ghosh. Kunal Ghosh had said, "I would like to respectfully inform Governor CV Ananda Bose that if both our Trinamool Congress MLAs are not sworn in by 3 pm on Monday, then from Tuesday the untold story of the Taj Palace in Delhi will come up."
In reaction to the nationwide protests by the Aam Aadmi Party against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's arrest, the Minister of State said, " The Court is not ED or CBI. You have to give proof before the Court. The Court has rejected bail today. This means that CBI has some proof or the other which is why the court is denying bail."
Meanwhile, BJP MLA Agnimitra Paul staged protest over alleged assault on BJP worker in Cooch Behar.
Majumdar further said that the action against hawkers by the civic bodies is just a step to deflect attention from the incident in Cooch Behar in which a woman BJP leader was allegedly stripped naked and assaulted.
"The step against hawkers is a way of deflecting attention from the incident in Coochbehar. This is a camouflage," the senior BJP leader said.
On an alleged incident of assault on a minority woman in Cooch Behar, Sukanta Majumdar said, "This incident in Cooch Behar, the blurred picture which is being circulated on social media is giving a clear message. Women are not safe in West Bengal... Can Mamata Banerjee and her party call this image fabricated?... It was as if the Constitution of India was lying naked."
Majumdar further said that if hawkers are to be removed from their illegal encroachments, they should be served prior notice.
"The BJP's stand is clear. If you want to remove them, you need to give prior notice to the hawkers and create an alternative arrangement for them," he said.
Slamming the Mamata Banerjee government over the alleged lack of jobs in the state, the BJP leader said, "You do not have avenues to give jobs. What will people do except be hawkers? You don't have jobs. There are no manufacturing units in the last 12-13 years. People are going to other states being migrant labourers and those who are not able to go become hawkers." (ANI)
