Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], December 29 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Dilip Ghosh on Monday launched a sharp attack on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee over the ongoing controversy surrounding the Durga Angan project, accusing her of using religious sentiments for electoral gains.
The BJP leader further claimed that the Durga Angan project has been mired in controversy due to unresolved land acquisition issues.
"Mamata Banerjee is getting a Durga temple built here to woo Hindus and has sent one of her ministers to build a Babri Masjid so that she can get Muslim votes. This happens before elections. But there has been a lot of controversy regarding the Durga Angan project here. Many people have filed cases on the land that has been acquired, but they have not received the land compensation. First, Mamata Banerjee should settle all this, then do her work," he said.

According to a post shared by the All India Trinamool Congress on X, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is scheduled to participate in the foundation stone-laying ceremony of the Durga Angan project today.
In September, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced plans for a world-class "Durgangan" project, with land and approvals already secured, set to be constructed within two years.
Banerjee also stressed communal harmony and respect for all languages, expressing concern over the disrespect shown to Bengali.
"I believe in communal harmony. I respect all religions, languages, and communities. But when our own language is disrespected, it hurts my heart. Just as we have recognised languages like Rajbanshi and Hindi, I expect equal respect for our own language as well. Within the next two years, we will build a Durgangan, which will be world-class, similar to Jagannath Dham. The land has been identified, cabinet approval has been given, and the trust has also been formed. Now we are waiting for its construction to begin," she said earlier. (ANI)
