Malayalam actress molestation: Kerala is no longer 'God's own country', says Maneka Gandhi
New Delhi, [India], Feb. 20 (ANI): Following alleged molestation of popular Malayalam actress in Ernakulam district of Kerala, Union Minister for Women and Child Development Maneka Gandhi said that Kerala is no longer God's own country. "It is a matter of shame for a state that a woman can be abducted and violated in her own car and the culprits can get away so easily. This is no longer god's own country," said Gandhi. "Today Kerala is unsafe for everyone whether it is a woman, a child, an animal or a political worker. A holocaust of violence has overtaken this state and a weak government either encourages this violence by not taking any action or simply looks the other way," she added. A case of attempted rape was filed after the actress was allegedly abducted and molested some days ago. Police claimed that they have arrested the accused in this case. The incident reportedly took place while the victim was returning from a shoot. According to police, the actress was held in the car for an hour, after which, she was dropped near her residence at around 10.30 p.m. (ANI)
