"Majority will join if BJP accepts": Udit Raj hits out AAP after 15 councillors resign

"According to my sources, except for a few (AAP) councillors, the remaining majority will join the BJP if it accepts them. This was not an ideological party. It was a barter system. They used to sell tickets for councillors and MLAs. That's how most people became councillors in their party," Raj, who is a former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP, told ANI.

New Delhi [India], May 18 (ANI): Congress leader Udit Raj on Sunday made shocking revelations, claiming that the entire Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), except a few councillors, would defect to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) if the latter was willing to induct them. He asserted that the Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP had no "ideological" inclinations.
He further alleged that AAP used to engage in "selling" tickets for councillor and MLA seats.
He accused the AAP of "looting money" while they remained in power in Delhi and spending it during elections in Gujarat, Punjab, and Goa.
"They used to loot money from here and throw it in Gujarat, Punjab, and Goa. They used to give concessions on electricity and water using the government tax," Raj added.
His remarks came after several councillors affiliated with AAP resigned from party membership and formed a new party called the Indraprastha Vikas Party.
In another setback for the AAP, months after the assembly poll drubbing, 15 councillors in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) have resigned from the party's membership and announced the formation of a new party.
The councillors, led by Himani Jain and Mukesh Goel, flagged internal conflicts behind their resignation. They formed a new political party named the "Indraprastha Vikas Party."
Speaking to ANI, Himani Jain and Mukesh Goel stated that no significant work had been completed in the municipal corporation over the past 2.5 years due to internal conflicts.
Meanwhile, AAP leader Priyanka Kakkar alleged that the BJP was attempting to lure AAP councillors with financial incentives following the resignation of several councillors from the party. The AAP leader accused the BJP of resorting to such tactics to bolster its position in the municipal body. (ANI)
