Pimpari Chinchwad (Maharashtra) [India], November 5 (ANI): NCP leader Nana Kate, who has withdrawn his candidature as an independent candidate from Chinchwad assembly constituency, on Monday said he received a call from party chief Ajit Pawar, and he and local corporators have decided to support Mahayuti candidate Shankar Jagtap in the Maharashtra assembly polls.
"Today morning, I received a call from Dada (Ajit Pawar), after which all corporators of Chinchwad got together and decided that in the upcoming elections, we will stand in support of Mahayuti candidate Shankar Jagtap," Kate told reporters.
Monday was the last day for withdrawal of candidature for Maharashtra polls.
Meanwhile, after withdrawing his candidature as independent from the Maharashtra's Boriwali Assembly seat, BJP leader Gopal Shetty said that the interest of the party is above that of individual leaders.
"There were never any differences. There were things related to a particular issue. I think it has reached the right place. There is no need to say what happened and how it happened. But I would like to say that party is supreme, individuals are smaller," Shetty told reporters here.
Earlier, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis had said that the rebels are also their people and exuded confidence that the party will be successful in making everyone understand.
"They (rebels) are also our own people, it is our duty to make them understand, sometimes there is a lot of anger but they have formed their mindset in the larger interest of the party, I am confident that we will be successful in making everyone understand," Fadnavis said on Saturday.
