Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], November 2 (ANI): Maharashtra Assembly Leader of Opposition Vijay Wadettiwar rebutted Prime Minister Narendra Modi's remarks on Congress, countering Bharatiya Janata Party on inflation, MSP and Ladli Behna Yojana in Madhya Pradesh.
Vijay Wadettiwar asserted that the people know who makes false promises and clarified that Congress speaks 'the truth', giving the example of Telangana.
"The people of the country know who lies and who makes false promises. They have talked about giving MSP now look at the soybean rate. They have talked about reducing inflation, but now Inflation has crossed all the limits. You (BJP) are in power - in the state and at the center, and who does the politics of caste? No one needs to tell this. They have made false promises. Congress speaks the truth, you can see it in Telangana. They talked about Ladli Behna in MP, women have not received money for the past three months," Wadettiwar said.
Speaking about the inflation in manure prices LoP accused BJP of "cheating with farmers."
"They talked about lowering the prices of manure. 50 kg bag of fertiliser used to be around Rs 400 now it is Rs 1600, They increased less rate of Urea but decreased 10 kg per bag. Isn't this cheating with farmers? This all can be seen. They are scared in Maharashtra that's why making such statements," he added.
Wadettiwar's response was a reply to PM Modi's recent thread of tweets, in which the Prime Minister accused Congress of making empty promises during election campaigns.
In his tweet, PM Modi claimed, "The Congress Party is realizing the hard way that making unreal promises is easy, but implementing them properly is tough or impossible. Campaign after campaign, they promise things to the people, which they also know they will never be able to deliver."
PM Modi cited issues in Congress-ruled states, mentioning that the "developmental trajectory and fiscal health is turning from bad to worse" in Karnataka, Himachal Pradesh, and Telangana. He alleged that Congress's unfulfilled promises were misleading the poor, youth, farmers, and women and that existing welfare schemes were being neglected. Modi urged the public to be vigilant against what he termed the "Congress-sponsored culture of fake promises" and cited Haryana's recent election results as evidence of people rejecting Congress.
Maharashtra elections will be held in a single phase on November 20 with counting of votes held on November 23. (ANI)
