Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], September 4 (ANI): Shiv Sena (UBT) leader, Sanjay Raut on Monday took a dig at the Maharashtra government over police lathi-charge on protesters in Jalna who were demanding reservation for the Marathas.
Addressing the conference, Sanjay Raut said “Without senior's order this lathi-charge couldn't take place. Maharashtra has ‘General Dyer Raj’. What has the ED done in Ajit Pawar's case? Give them Padma Bhushan or Padma Shri ward and many awards who have washed in the washing machine.”
Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray after meeting the protestors in Sarati Antarwali village on Saturday, asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to give Maratha reservation in the special session in Parliament.
“Udhhav Thackeray has visited the place where this incident had happened. Maratha reservation should be discussed in a special parliamentary session which is called by the government,” Sanjay Raut said.
Raut further launched derogatory remarks on the Maharashtra CM and two deputy CMs and compared them with General Dyer.
“Who is the General Dyer sitting in the Ministry who has given the order of lathi charge? There are three general Dyer in Maharashtra government-one CM and two Deputy CM,” Raut said.
“Where is Ajit Pawar who had before joined the Maratha protest,” he added,
Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aditya Thackeray also questioned the state government and demanded the resignation of the Chief Minister.
"We all have seen what happened in Jalna. The lathi-charge was very brutal as if you were attacking your enemy. The protest was related to a sensitive issue...It is not possible that the police will lathi charge without informing the Chief Minister...The state government should resign if they have a little bit of shame," Aditya Thackeray said on Sunday.
The meeting of the Maharashtra Cabinet sub-committee on Maratha Reservation is slated to take place on Monday the Chief Minister's Office informed on Sunday.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde will also attend the meeting, the CMO added. (ANI)
