Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], Nov 10 (ANI): Senior BJP leader Sudhir Mungantiwar on Sunday said that the core committee of the party will meet again today to discuss on the invitation by Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari to form the government in Maharashtra.
Speaking to media after attending the BJP's first core committee meeting at the residence of Devendra Fadnavis, Mungantiwar said, "The Governor has invited BJP to form the government because we are the single largest party. We will meet at 4 pm again today and take the decision on the Governor's invitation."
The term of assembly ended yesterday. The BJP remerged as the single-largest party in the assembly polls winning 105 seats while Shiv Sena won 56 seats.
Shiv Sena has insisted that the two parties had a '50-50' power-sharing agreement before the elections.
However, Fadnavis has said the Shiv Sena was not promised the chief minister's post for two-and-a-half years when the alliance was sealed before the 2019 Lok Sabha polls. (ANI)
