Maharashtra: Bear mauls six to death

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday criticised the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray, asserting that those who did not receive invitations were the ones raising objections.

Following a tragic incident at the Surajkund International Crafts Festival, where a joyride collapsed on Saturday evening, resulting in the death of a police officer and injuries to 13 others, Haryana Tourism Corporation Limited Managing Director Parth Gupta on Sunday said that the state government will bear the entire cost of treatment of the injured.

Union Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Jayant Singh on Saturday stressed that the farmers of the nation know that the economic progress, growth, and development in the sector is possible only through law, order, and science, after the India-US trade agreement.

In this meeting, held in the presence of Forest and Environment Minister Arjunbhai Modhwadia and Minister of State Pravin Mali, details presented to the Chief Minister also stated that a tiger has been observed in the Ratanmahal Sanctuary and that there is a strong possibility of it settling there permanently.

Venugopal was addressing a gathering in Thiruvananthapuram, where he pointed out that under the old law, the Centre had to bear 100% of the wage component; however, under the new amendment, the Centre will bear only 60%, with the remaining 40% to be borne by the state.

"It is being ensured that those who are injured are taken care of properly. Some of them are serious and hence have been sent to Shimla. The state government will bear the expense of all of their treatments," Dhani Ram Shandil told ANI.

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor expressed disappointment over the exclusion of Bangladeshi player Muztafizur Rahman from the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, stating that sports should be kept apart from politics.
