Nashik (Maharashtra) [India], November 20 (ANI): Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Chhagan Bhujbal on Wednesday underscored the significance of voting rights in India, urging everyone to vote in Maharashtra assembly polls.
Speaking to ANI, Chagan Bhujbal said, "Everyone has one vote... This one vote has the right to decide who will take care of the country and state."
"Baba Saheb Ambedkar and other leaders have made us the owners of the country; voting was not the right of every person before that. The person who lives in slums and the one who lives in palaces have one vote. Everyone should vote," he added.
Chhagan Bhujbal is a sitting MLA from the Yevla seat in the Nashik district.
The ruling BJP-led Mahayuti alliance includes the BJP, Shiv Sena, and the Nationalist Congress Party (Ajit Pawar faction), while the opposition MVA comprises the Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), and the NCP (Sharad Pawar faction).
Earlier, after casting his vote, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said, "Maharashtra is a progressive and prosperous state of the country. This state receives the highest foreign investment and agricultural exports are also increasing here. It is a role model state for the country. A good government and good leadership can change the future of Maharashtra. Today is the festival of democracy, I appeal to the people to vote and exercise their democratic rights. We will win with a good majority in Maharashtra. People have to vote for development and the future of the state..."
Single-phase polling in 288 assembly seats of Maharashtra is underway on Wednesday.
MVA Candidate from 'Kudal' Assembly Constituency Vaibhav Naik cast his vote.
Meanwhile, NCP's National Secretary Rajendra Jain also cast his vote and stated that everyone should vote, as there is great enthusiasm among the people.
He further mentioned that the NCP will win all seven seats in Gondia and Bhandara. In response to a question on the allegation of 'cash for vote' against Vinod Tawde, he said that during elections, such topics are raised, but the aware public doesn't pay attention to these matters.
"The Mahayuti government will be formed under the leadership of Eknath Shinde, Devendra Fadnavis, and Ajit Pawar, and the Mahayuti government will definitely be in place by November 23," he added.
As per the Election Commission of India (ECI), Maharashtra recorded a 6.61 per cent voting percentage till 9:00 AM on Wednesday. (ANI)
