Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], November 11 (ANI): Rifts continue to erupt in the Karnataka Congress as Shivamogga MLA Belur Gopalakrishna launched an attack against state education minister Madhu Bangarappa.
Madhu Bangarappa is the education minister of Karnataka and also the incharge of Shivamogga district. He is the son of former CM of Karnataka, Sarekoppa Bangarappa.
Congress MLA Belur Gopalakrishna, who represents Shivamogga district, has targeted the education minister alleging that only people from dynasties seem to be getting party positions.
"I spoke against the district in charge, Minister. I will tell this now also. Even now I will tell that those who spoke against me belong to the Minister's kitchen. I know what they have contributed to the party. Every day they are seen in his kitchen. Even I have the power to get hundreds of such supporters to write like this," Belur Gopalakrishna said.
Reacting to the attack against him, Madhu Bangarappa said that party is more important than person and I don't want to comment on what Gopalakrishna said.
"Where I have to answer I will answer. Party will take a decision. We work under Party base, we are under the rule of party. We have not won independently. It is the win of the party and we should know how to behave. Party is important than any person. CM and Deputy CM have said about it. I don't want to comment on what Belur Gopalkrishna said," Madhu Bangarappa said.
Recently, clearing speculations of rift in the party, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar said that there is no confusion in any district Congress and leaders have to talk to him.
"There is no complaint in Shivamogga district congress. They have to speak to me, not to the media. There is no confusion in any district congress. I'm going to Telangana, I have to participate in 3 assembly constituencies, me and PCC president will also participate in the campaign and we'll also go to Srisaila. Not more than 5-6 ministers will campaign with 40 MLAs, we have asked the revenue minister to stay in the state."
The Congress enjoys an overwhelming majority in the state assembly but recent reports of infighting have encouraged the BJP which aims to exploit this in the run-up to the Lok Sabha elections. (ANI)
