LS polls 2024: Madhya Pradesh Dy CM Rajendra Shukla votes in Rewa, appeals voters to exercise franchise

After casting vote, Shukla told ANI, "I appeal to the public that today is the day to decide the future of the nation. Our one vote becomes the reason for resolving the problems of crores of people... Our well-wishers are happy, but those who don't want India to develop are sad today. We must ensure India's development by voting in these elections."

Rewa (Madhya Pradesh) [India], April 26 (ANI): Deputy Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Rajendra Shukla cast his vote in Rewa in the second phase of Lok Sabha elections 2024 on Friday.
Rewa along with five other parliamentary seats which include Tikamgarh (SC), Damoh, Khajuraho, Satna, and Hoshangabad are undergoing polling in the second phase of polling that began this morning at 7 am.

After casting vote, Shukla told ANI, "I appeal to the public that today is the day to decide the future of the nation. Our one vote becomes the reason for resolving the problems of crores of people... Our well-wishers are happy, but those who don't want India to develop are sad today. We must ensure India's development by voting in these elections."
Meanwhile, Shukla also took a potshot at the opposition party and said, "Our fight is for 400 seats and if they (Congress) get 50 seats then it will be enough."
Besides, the state recorded 13.82 per cent voting in the initial voter turnout trend till 9 am, according to the data released by the Election Commission of India.
Of these, Hoshangabad led the voter turnout charts with 15.95 per cent voting, while Rewa recorded the minimum 13.27 per cent till 9 am. The other parliamentary seats include Satna 13.59 per cent followed by Khajuraho 13.44 per cent, Tikamgarh 13.36 per cent and Damoh 13.34 per cent voting in the initial trend in the state.
Earlier, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav also requested people of these constituencies to exercise their franchise saying voters are the most important in the festival of democracy.
"Voters are the most important in the elections, the festival of democracy. In the second phase of Lok Sabha elections 2024, voting is being held today in six Lok Sabha constituencies - Satna, Rewa, Khajuraho, Tikamgarh, Damoh and Hoshangabad in the state. It is a humble request to all respected voters that by using the right to vote, you must discharge your responsibilities in building a bright future for the country," CM Yadav wrote on X.
Lok Sabha elections in Madhya Pradesh are being conducted in four phases. The first phase of polling was held on April 19. The next two phases will be conducted on May 7 and May 13. The counting of votes will be held on June 4.
Madhya Pradesh has a total of 29 Lok Sabha constituencies, making it the sixth-largest state in terms of parliamentary representation. Out of these, 10 seats are reserved for SC and ST candidates, while the remaining 19 are unreserved. (ANI)
