Lok Sabha polls: ADGP SPS Parmar praises robust security arrangements in Bathinda constituency

Bathinda (Punjab) [India], June 1 (ANI): Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Bathinda Range, SPS Parmar on Saturday commended the comprehensive security measures that were put in place to ensure a peaceful electoral process in Bathinda.
According to Parmar, there have been no reports of violence in the Bathinda constituency, thanks to the meticulous planning and execution of security protocols.
"The arrangements of police forces in Bathinda constituency have been thorough and effective. There have been no incidents of violence reported as voting continues smoothly," ADGP Parmar told ANI.
Highlighting the collaborative efforts of the paramilitary forces and the Punjab Police, Parmar detailed how these forces have jointly monitored and patrolled the entire constituency. "The paramilitary forces and Punjab Police, in a joint venture, have thoroughly monitored and patrolled the constituency to maintain law and order," he said.
In an unprecedented move to bolster security, police have deployed advanced technology, including CCTV cameras, drones, and real-time monitoring through smartphones using 4G and 5G networks. This initiative is spearheaded by SSP Bathinda, who has introduced portable CCTV and Wi-Fi cameras powered by solar energy.
"SSP Bathinda Deepak Parikh has taken a new initiative to operate portable CCTV and Wi-Fi cameras. These cameras, equipped with solar power and fixed installations, come with a foldable stand, storage capacity for more than 10 days of recordings, 4G connectivity, and remote operation capabilities," Parmar said.
"These cameras can be relocated as needed and provide live footage to the District Control Room, ensuring comprehensive surveillance and quick response to any situation," Parmar added.
The seventh and the final phase of polling for Lok Sabha elections on June 1 across seven states and the Union Territory of Chandigarh saw a voter turnout of 58.34 per cent till 5 pm, the Election Commission (ECI) said on Saturday.As per the ECI, West Bengal is leading the voter turnout charts at 69.89 per cent till 5 pm.
Other states where polling is underway in the seventh phase are Bihar- 48.86 per cent, Chandigarh- 62.80 per cent, Odisha-- 62.46 per cent, Punjab- 55.20 per cent, Uttar Pradesh-54 per cent and Himachal Pradesh 66.56 per cent.
The polling of the last phase started on Saturday at 7 am in the 57 parliamentary constituencies spread across seven states and the Union Territory of Chandigarh. According to the Election Commission of India, over 10.06 crore electors including approximately 5.24 crore male, 4.82 crore female, and 3574 third gender electors are expected to exercise their franchise.
