"Lies, spreading misinformation": Gaurav Gogoi attacks BJP
He accused the BJP IT cell of propagating "rumours" and said that Congress would bring the truth to the people of Assam by exposing the corruption of the state government.

New Delhi [India], February 24 (ANI): Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi on Monday said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had two crutches, which were "lies and spreading misinformation".
He accused the BJP IT cell of propagating "rumours" and said that Congress would bring the truth to the people of Assam by exposing the corruption of the state government.
"Lies and spreading misinformation are two crutches of BJP. It is the BJP's work to spread lies and misinformation. Our work is to make sure the truth reaches the people. They will try to propagate rumours furthered by their IT cells. However, we will bring the truth to the people of Assam about the corruption being done by them. We all know about the land mafia being operated. People of Assam know the difference between truth and lies," Gogoi told ANI.
He was responding to the charges levelled by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma regarding his wife Elizabeth Gogoi's alleged links with the ISI (Inter-Services Intelligence).
Earlier today, Gogoi hit out at the BJP and said that the ruling party was a factory of "empty promises". Gogoi labelled Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the "head of the Jumla factory" and said that Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma was the "regional manager of this factory."
Intensifying his attack, the Congress MP cornered the Prime Minister over claims that he won't tolerate corruption. However, he said, CM Sarma's family in Assam had landholdings in every district.
"The entire country knows that BJP is a factory of Jumlas (empty promises). If Narendra Modi is the head of the Jumla factory, Himanta Biswa Sarma is the regional manager of this factory. PM Modi says- 'Naa khaunga aur naa khane dunga', but in Assam the CM's family has eaten up lands in every district," Gogoi said in a presser held at All India Congress Committee (AICC) headquarters.
The Congress MP further questioned Sarma over his failure as the convenor of the North-East Democratic Alliance, given the "instability" in Manipur. He also asked about the delay in the committee's report related to Clause 6 of the Assam Accord, which talks about providing constitutional safeguards to protect the cultural, social, and linguistic identity of the Assamese people.
