Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) [India], June 1 (ANI): Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan sharply reacted to Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge's statement that INDIA alliance will win over 295 seats in Lok Sabha elections 2024, saying that let him say like that for 2-3 days and after that, he would be saying "there is a fault in EVM."
"Let him (Kharge) say like that for 2-3 days. After that, he would be saying that there is a fault in EVM. BJP along with NDA will cross 400 (seats), BJP alone will win 370," Chouhan told reporters on Saturday.
Earlier today, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, in INDIA bloc meeting, exuded confidence that the Opposition alliance would win more than 295 seats in the Lok Sabha elections.
"INDIA bloc will win at least 295 seats in the elections...it will be over that, but not less. We have analysed after discussing with all the leaders, and there is no doubt in the number...this is a people's survey, based on the information given by people," Kharge said while speaking to reporters in Delhi on Saturday.
The Congress president said that they want to take the "truth" to the people against BJP's narrative.
"Government survey also happens, they (BJP) have many ways to create surveys and media also highlights their chunks," Kharge said. "We have decided to participate in exit poll debates. We want to take the truth to people, against the narrative they (BJP) are trying to present."
Lok Sabha elections 2024 was conducted in seven phases, in a six-week marathon running from April 19 to June 1. The first six phases of polling were held on April 19, April 26, May 7, May 13, May 20 and May 25.
The seventh and final phase of polling concluded on Saturday on 57 seats across seven states and a union territory. A total of 904 candidates were in the fray for the voting held today.
The counting of votes will be held on June 4. (ANI)
