Agartala (Tripura) [India], Mar 13 (ANI): The CPI(M)-led Left Front in Tripura has accused the BJP-IPFT government of "cheating" the people and expressed confidence that it will win both the Lok Sabha seats in the state.
“I am grateful that the party has once again put its faith in me. This time it will be a historic election when the whole country is working to defeat the authority of BJP and misrule lead by Narendra Modi. The people of Tripura are very well aware of the national situation. The people of Tripura were cheated by BJP and IPFT in the last state election,” Jitendra Choudhary, the Left Front candidate from East Tripura, told ANI on Tuesday.
Sankar Prasad Datta, the Front nominee from West Tripura constituency, said, “The Left Front will definitely win both the seats in Tripura in the Lok Sabha election. One year ago, the BJP government in the state assured the people of Tripura that 50,000 unemployed will get jobs. Now people are seeing that whatever they assured has not been done... The people of the state are thinking that we did a mistake earlier, that’s why they will act properly this time and we hope that the people will support us.”
Both Choudhary and Datta have been re-nominated by the Front from their respective Lok Sabha constituencies.
BJP and Indigenous Peoples Party of Tripura (IPFT) had formed the government in the state last year after the Assembly polls, unseating the Front. IPFT has said it will be contesting the Lok Sabha polls in the state on its own.
Voting for both the seats in Tripura will be held on April 11 and 18 respectively. (ANI)
