Purnea (Bihar) [India], August 22 (ANI): Criticising RJD chief Lalu Yadav over his remarks on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Bihar's Gaya Ji, BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain on Friday said that such "undiginified" statement shows how "rattled" former Bihar Chief Minister is with PM Modi visiting the state here.
The remarks came after RJD supremo said that PM Modi is visiting Bihar to perform "pind daan" of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's political career and JDU.
Speaking to ANI, the BJP leader said, "Lalu Yadav is giving an undignified statement. It shows how rattled he is. When PM Modi visits Bihar, all the leaders of the Mahagathbandhan tremble. To say that the PM is coming for 'pind-dann' is unfortunate. This time, people of Bihar will do 'pind-daan' of Mahagathbandhan as NDA will win more than 200 seats."
Earlier today, Union Minister Chirag Paswan condemned RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav's "Pind Daan" remark and stated that the Opposition should not use such language against the Chief Minister.
Chirag Paswan asked the Opposition to raise questions at the policy level rather than indulging in such remarks.
"This is wrong. What kind of language is this? You raise questions about the policies; you are making SIR an issue, which is fine. But to say "Pind Daan" and use such language against the Chief Minister, I condemn this," Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief told the reporters.
In a post on X, RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav wrote, "Prime Minister Modi ji is coming to Gaya today to perform the Pind Daan (a post-death ritual) of Nitish Kumar's politics and his party."
Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone and inaugurated multiple development projects worth Rs 12,000 crore at Gaya in Bihar today. The Prime Minister offered salutations to Gaya ji, the sacred city of knowledge and liberation and extended greetings to all from the glorious land of the Vishnupad Temple.
PM Modi remarked that the land of Gaya ji is a land of spirituality and peace. He highlighted that this sacred soil is where Lord Buddha attained enlightenment.
"Gaya ji's spiritual and cultural heritage is both ancient and immensely rich," PM Modi said. (ANI)
