New Delhi [India], December 29 (ANI): After Lalan Singh offered his resignation from Janata Dal (United) Party's president post, BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain on Friday took a swipe at the Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, saying that the former was "removed" from the top post of the party.
Speaking with ANI, the BJP leader alleged the former JDU Chief did not offer his resignation but was removed through Nitish Kumar.
"Lalan Singh did not himself offer his resignation but was removed through Nitish Kumar," he said.
"Nitish Kumar ji first made RCP Singh president, then Lalan Singh and now he himself has become president of JD (U)," he added.
"Lalan Singh and RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav had shown him a dream. It remained unfulfilled. He was told to be made the convenor and prime ministerial face of the Indian National Development Inclusive Alliance bloc," he further added.
The JD(U) national executive was held at the Constitution Club in Delhi. Lalan Singh also attended the meeting along with Bihar CM Nitish Kumar and other party leaders.
The meeting comes just days after the critical INDIA alliance meeting in Delhi. The JDU which is part of the alliance will now be getting into hectic parleys with the Congress on the alliance combination for the state.
Many JDU leaders are making a pitch for Nitish to lead the INDIA bloc, even as Mamata Banerjee and Arvind Kejriwal publicly announced Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge as prospective PM Candidate.
At the national executive meeting venue, posters featuring Bihar CM Nitish Kumar read 'Pradesh ne pehchana, ab desh bhi pehchanega' (The state of Bihar recognised him, now the nation will) have also been put up. (ANI)
