New Delhi [India], April 21 (ANI): After the Aam Aadmi Party announced its decision not to fight Mayor elections, Delhi Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa on Monday said that the AAP has lost all its capability to fight polls as their own party workers are leaving them.
Addressing the media, Sirsa said that the public mandate is with the Bharatiya Janata Party.
"Ladke kya vo jeet jaate (Would they have won after fighting polls)? They are not capable of fighting. How will they fight? Their members are leaving them and running away. BJP has the mandate, and the people are with us. You may or may not fight the election, but your corruption cases will be exposed," he said.
Further, the Delhi Minister mentioned that the government will bring a pollution action plan for 2025-26.
"Just like we have brought a heat action plan for the public, similarly next week we will bring a pollution action plan for 2025-26, This is very important. The entire plan has been made keeping in mind drinking water, children's school timings, and school holidays. We are confident that our plan will be successful. Heat stroke occurs a lot at this time, so we have considered that as well," Manjinder Sirsa said.
"Tomorrow, on the occasion of Earth Day, our government will be giving a huge gift to the people of Delhi by giving electric buses," he added.
Earlier today, Aam Aadmi Party's Delhi convenor, Saurabh Bharadwaj, had stated that his party will not field a candidate for the Mayor elections.
Hitting out at the BJP, he said that the ruling party should "elect its own Mayor, the BJP should form its own standing committee and should rule Delhi without any excuses".
The elections for the posts of mayor and deputy mayor in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) are scheduled for April 25, with nominations for candidates open now.
Currently, AAP controls the mayoral post, as Mayor Mahesh Kumar Khinchi won the election in November 2024 by just three votes. (ANI)
