Lack of long term policy during Cong. tenure cause behind inflation: Naidu
New Delhi, July 20 (ANI): Union Information and Broadcasting Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu on Wednesday slammed the Congress for protesting against inflation and held the grand old party responsible for the same. Naidu said that the Congress during its ten-year tenure did not chalk out any long-term policy with regard to food security because of which the nation has to face this dearth today. "The Congress is protesting against Inflation, but it is the grand old party itself which is responsible for this condition. The Congress in its tenure did not chalk out a long-term policy in connection with food security and pulses security," said Naidu. "They never had a long-term approach for anything. They keep in mind the poll schedule and announced some populist schemes to enthral attention of the masses and by doing this they have harmed the nation. During the Congress regime, inflation was in double digit, we have reduced the number to half," he added. The Congress earlier today staged a protest over the issue of "persistent" rise in prices of essential commodities. (ANI)
