New Delhi [India], January 19 (ANI): Congress candidate for Kasturba Nagar Assembly constituency, Abhishek Dutt alleged on Sunday that the Aam Aadmi Party's national convenor is "dedicated to liquor mafia," and questioned the work done by the AAP in the last 11 years of governing the national capital.
"Arvind Kejriwal's life is dedicated to the liquor mafia...How much development work has Arvind Kejriwal done in the last 11 years?" Dutt told ANI.
Kejriwal has earlier been arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Directorate of Enforcement (ED) for alleged irregularities and corruption in the now scrapped Excise Policy. The AAP leader was released on bail by the Supreme Court.
Dutt said that all the AAP leaders are going to lose the upcoming assembly elections after the party's lies have been exposed.
"Arvind Kejriwal, Atishi, Manish Sisodia, Gopal Rai are going to lose the election. AAP's lie in Delhi has been exposed," the Congress candidate said.
Earlier today, Congress candidate from New Delhi Assembly, Sandeep Dikshit accused Kejriwal of degrading the level of politics and making it "dirty" by using inappropriate language against the then Delhi Chief Minister and Congress veteran Sheila Dikshit.
Sandeep Dikshit, the son of Sheila Dikshit, was conducting a door-to-door campaign in the New Delhi Assembly constituency.
When asked about Kejriwal's statement made during a speech, in which he said, "Sheila Dikshit was a good woman and used to fight free and fair elections," Sandeep Dikshit hit back at Kejriwal.
Notably, Sheila Dikshit was the longest-serving Chief Minister of Delhi, and also the longest-serving female Chief Minister of any Indian state, having served for 15 years from 1998 to 2013.
Voting for the 70-member Delhi Assembly is scheduled for February 5, with votes to be counted on February 8.
A three-way contest is on the cards in Delhi between the ruling AAP, BJP and Congress. Congress, which was in power for 15 consecutive years in Delhi, has suffered setbacks in the last two assembly elections and has failed to win any seat. AAP dominated the 2020 assembly elections by winning 62 out of 70 seats while the BJP got eight seats. (ANI)
