New Delhi [India], May 20 (ANI): Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal asserted to provide full statehood to the national capital once the opposition alliance, INDIA bloc assumes power in the Centre.
"On June 4, the INDIA coalition government will be formed and Aam Aadmi Party will be a part of it. We will give full statehood to Delhi. We have improved the schools and hospitals but the law and order is very bad, the police do not listen but after June 4, they will listen to the public," CM Kejriwal said while addressing supporters during a roadshow in the East Delhi area.
Kejriwal urged the public to vote in favour of Congress and AAP as he expressed confidence in the opposition coalition winning all seven seats in Delhi.
"I missed the people of Delhi while I was in jail. We will win all the seven seats in Delhi. Aam Aadmi Party and Congress are contesting the elections together in Delhi, this is a very good thing for the country," the AAP chief said.
He also took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi asking him to "do the work for which he was elected" and alleged that the latter is "using all his energy to arrest" opposition leaders.
"The people of the country had elected the Prime Minister but he has left his work and is now acting like a police officer. When he wakes up in the morning, he thinks that today he has to arrest this person, he has to arrest that person," Kejriwal said.
"Prime Minister, do the work for which you were elected. Employ the youth, and reduce inflation. But no, they are using all their energy in arresting opposition leaders," he added.
He also alleged that if PM Modi returns to power then he will abolish reservation as he urged the public to vote for AAP and Congress.
"If Modiji comes back to power, he will abolish this reservation and the Constitution. Which we have got due to the sacrifices of freedom fighters and the tireless efforts of Baba Saheb (Ambedkar). Therefore, to save the Constitution and reservation, every single vote has to be cast. Narendra Modi hates the free bus travel of women in Delhi. He wants to stop this facility but as long as Kejriwal is there, no one can stop the free bus travel of women in Delhi," he said.
"By sending me to jail, Modiji wants to shut down the Mohalla clinics in Delhi. He wants to shut down the good government schools for your children. The Prime Minister and BJP cannot tolerate your free electricity and water facilities and that is why they sent me to jail. But as long as I am alive, no facility being provided to you can be stopped. I said, what is your problem if I am giving some relief from the inflation increase by you? It would be greatness if you make bus travel free for women across the country," the Delhi CM said.
Voting in 7 Lok Sabha seats in Delhi will be held on May 25. The counting of the votes will be done on June 4. As part of the seat-sharing arrangement, the Congress is contesting three seats while AAP has fielded candidates from four constituencies in Delhi. (ANI)
