Kejriwal demands roll back of demonetisation scheme, alleges massive scam in play
New Delhi [India], Nov. 12 (ANI): Hurling a massive allegation at the Centre of playing out a major scam in the name of demonetisation of currency, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday asserted that a few corporate houses were informed beforehand about the radical development about it and called on the Narendra Modi-led Government to roll back the scheme. "In the name of demonetisation, a huge scam is being played out. Before the Prime Minister Modi announced the move on Tuesday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its friends had been alerted before and they had stashed their cash," Kejriwal said. He said that in last three months, thousands of crores of rupees have been deposited in the bank accounts of some people and corporate houses, adding that deposition of such large sums creates suspicions. "What kind of person holds black money in this country? Is it the Adanis, Ambanis, Subhash Chandras and Badals? Or is it rickshawala, cobbler, labourer or farmer?" he asked. Further attacking on the Prime Minister Kejriwal said that the Centre's "surgical strike" was not on black money but a strike on common people savings. "Scrapping Rs. 500 notes and bringing Rs. 2000 notes shows their intent. Everybody knows ATMs can't be reconfigured overnight. They knew there would be this crisis and the touts would earn," he said. "The government must roll back demonetisation decision immediately. This will lead to massive financial crisis by causing loss of jobs," Kejriwal added. On Friday, BJP president Amit Shah asked the Samajwadi Party(SP), the Congress Party, the Bahujan Samaj Party(BSP) and the Aam Aadmi Party(AAP) whether they supported terrorism and black money. "For the past two days, the reactions of different parties are being seen by the people. I want to ask SP chief Mulayam Singh, Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi and AAP Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal that that what is bothering them so much? Are they in support of black money or against it? Are you in favor or support of terrorism which runs on fake currency?," Shah said. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has already defended the government's decision and said the country is moving towards a cash-less economy. Reassuring the people that those having lawful money would have nothing to fear, Jaitley said this is a major setback to the parallel black money economy because a lot of currency operating outside the system will now have to be brought into the banking system.
