Kejriwal broke the ice to save Sidhu's image: AAP
New Delhi, Aug 19 (ANI): The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday said that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's tweets have scotched all rumors with regard to Navjot Singh Sidhu's induction in the party as it was not appropriate that position of a dignitary was being questioned. Reiterating Kejriwal's assertion that no conditions have been tabled between the AAP and Sidhu, party leader Ashutosh said that the former's tweet have put an end to all speculations. "Arvind Kejriwal ji's tweets were an attempt to end media speculations. Navjot Singh Sidhu is a respected cricketer of our nation, he is a legend of the field and is a great commentator. So, it is not right if any kind accusations are levied against him," said Ashutosh. "So, through the tweets we have put forward the real facts. Arvind ji has clearly said that he had a meeting with Sidhu ji and that there were no conditions laid, as Sidhu ji has asked for some more time to think over all scenarios," he added. Kejriwal sought to put an end to the speculations surrounding Sidhu joining his party ahead of the Punjab Assembly polls. Earlier today, Kejriwal wrote on Twitter that Sidhu has not put forward any pre-condition prior to his joining the AAP. "He needs time to think. Let's respect that," he said. The AAP leader confirmed that he had met Sidhu last week and added he would continue to respect him irrespective of him joining the party. According to reports, Sidhu initially had said that he will not contest the Punjab Assembly polls and just wanted an AAP ticket for his wife. However, reports suggest that the cricketer-turned-politician later made a U-turn and demanded tickets for both himself and his wife Navjot Kaur in the upcoming assembly elections. (ANI)
