Ranga Reddy (Telangana) [India], November 19 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National President JP Nadda hit out at ruling party in Telangana Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) on Sunday, accusing it of 'indulging in appeasement politics' and 'immersing deep in corruption.'
"On one hand, PM Modi works for the satisfaction of the people. KCR does the politics of appeasement in Telangana. Did they not make Urdu the second language? Are they not trying to increase the 4 per cent reservation in the name of religion to 12 per cent? Are they not planning to grab the land for temples? We have to remove such people who are doing such appeasement," Nadda said, addressing a rally in Ranga Reddy's Chelleva in poll-bound Telangana.
It was in 2014 that the BRS [then TRS] supremo promised a 12 per cent reservation for Muslims of the state in Shadnagar, a town about 40 km from Hyderabad.
In 2017, the BRS government passed the Telangana Backward Classes, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes (reservation of seats in educational institutions and of appointments or posts in services under the state) Bill. Through the Bill, the Telangana government aimed to hike the quota for Muslims and Scheduled Tribes.
Up until then, Muslims were allotted a four percent quota under the Other Backward Classes category, while STs were given a six percent quota.
However, when the state government forwarded the bill to the union government asking for it to be cleared and incorporated into the ninth schedule of the constitution, it was denied.
However, Nadda also claimed that BRS MLAs took 30 per cent of the commission in the Dalit Bandhu scheme.
"In Miyapur, a scam worth Rs 4,000 crore was carried out. They took a kickback of Rs 1,000 crore on the Outer Ring Road. KCR's MLAs took a 30 per cent commission in the Dalit Bandhu Scheme...The BRS is immersed deep in corruption," Nadda said.
Telangana will go for assembly elections on November 30 and the counting of votes, along with those of four other poll-bound states, has been scheduled for December 3.
In the previous Assembly election in 2018, the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), previously known as
Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), won 88 of the 119 seats, grabbing 47.4 percent of the total vote share. The Congress came in a distant second with just 19 seats.Nadda, while comparing PM Modi to the efficient 5G network, equaled KCR's 5G with Gareebi, Ghotala, Ghuskhori, Ghaplebazi and Gundaraj.
"The 5G of KCR in Telangana is-Gareebi (poverty), Ghotala (scam), Ghooskhori (bribery), Ghaplebaazi (fraud) Gundaraj (goonda rule)," he said.
Further taking a swipe at Congress, the BJP leader said that the party has never fulfilled its promises made to the people of the country.
"In Karnataka, Congress promised 200 units of free electricity. They promised to give free bus service to women. They failed to fulfil these promises. No employment allowance was given to the eligible candidates," he added.
He also said that Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao and Congress can only guarantee corruption.
"KCR and Congress can guarantee corruption only!" he said.
Urging people to vote for the BJP in the November 30 assembly elections, Nadda said, "The people of Telangana need to help Lotus bloom in Telangana if the farmers want respect, the youth need to be connected with development and women need to be empowered."
He said that the BJP has decided to give four free gas cylinders in a year to women and to make a backward-class CM if voted to power.
"We will decrease VAT on petrol and diesel, giving relief to the people," Nadda said. (ANI)
