Katiyar's 'atrocious remark' reflects petty mindset of BJP: Priyanka Gandhi
New Delhi [India], Jan. 25 (ANI): Lashing out at Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Vinay Katiyar for his derogatory remark, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Wednesday said that the former's statement exposed the mindset of his party. "He exposes BJP's mindset towards the better half of the population of India," reads a statement released by Priyanka Gandhi Vadra's Office. Echoing similar views, Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala also slammed the BJP leader, saying that latter's remark shows the petty mindset of the saffron party towards women. "The disparaging and atrocious remarks passed by BJP leader Vinay Katiyar against Priyanka Gandhi Vadra reflect the petty and insulting mindset of entire BJP leadership. He has insulted the entire womanhood of India to adjudge India's women not by their capacity, capability, sacrifice, culture but to commodify India's women based on their beauty as also on their physical attributes ," Surjewala told ANI. Demanding apology from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah, Surjewala further said that the party must take serious action against Katiyar else they would face failure in the upcoming polls. "Not only should PM Narendra Modi and BJP President Amit Shah immediately apologize they should take decisive action against lumpen elements like Vinay Katiyar otherwise people of Uttar Pradesh and the entire women of India will decisively reject BJP in the upcoming election to these 5 states," he added. Katiyar earlier in the day drew flak for his sexiest remark against Priyanka, saying that she is not the most beautiful star campaigner. "It doesn't matter if she is going to be a star campaigner for the Congress in the upcoming assembly elections. There are number of star campaigners who are more beautiful than her," Katiyar told ANI.(ANI)
