Kashmir would have 'burned' if not for PM Modi: Shiv Sena

New Delhi, July 18 (ANI): Stating that the blatant attacks on defence personnel in Jammu and Kashmir was an extremely alarming matter, the Shiv Sena on Monday hit out at Pakistan for fanning terrorism in the state and asserted that if not for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Valley would have been 'burning'. "In a span of 15 days, 20 attacks have happened on the police and the Army. So many defence personnel have lost their lives and it is alarming that so many have gone missing. It's not a new thing that Pakistan is fanning terrorism in Kashmir. Anyway, Kashmir would have burned if PM Modi had not taken control of the situation," Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut told ANI. Lashing out at Pakistan for branding slain Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Burhan Wani as a 'martyr', he added Islamabad's assertions were of no value as for India, Wani was and will be a terrorist. "Every Burhan Wani still in Jammu and Kashmir must be destroyed," Raut added. The incidents of violence continue to crop up despite the Centre and Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti urging the people to maintain calm and cooperate with the state government to restore peace in the valley. After Burhan's death, Kashmir is on boil and about 40 people have been killed and over 3000 including 1600 civilians injured in clashes between youth and security men during protests. Curfew imposed in the valley in wake of the protest continued today for tenth consecutive day. The life in the Valley remained paralysed after Burhan's killing, due to strike called by the separatists and curfew-like restrictions imposed by the authorities. (ANI)
