Kashmir: Workshop-cum-seminar on exams, evaluation system organized
Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], Mar. 03 (ANI): In order to bring transparency in examination and evaluation system, a state level workshop-cum-seminar was organised by the government college here. The seminar-cum-workshop on the theme 'Assessment and Evaluation' was a joint venture of Institute of Advanced Studies in Education (IASE) and Government College of education in Srinagar. The main purpose of the seminar was to make education department more trustable as the ratio of students is increasing and new subjects are being introduced among the students due to which faculties are facing some problems during exams and evaluation. On the occasion, as many as 20 speakers from various colleges presented their papers and powerpoint presentations on different subjects and themes, which are also appreciated by the audience. "There has been a growing realisation that the existing evaluation and assessment system of examination is deficient in several ways and needs to be reviewed and reformed to make it purposeful," said IASE Principal Professor Dr. Parveen Pandit. "Responsibilities of faculty are automatically increasing, due to the huge role of students and new subjects are also being introduced. So, it is our responsibility to bring the transparency in examination and evaluation system," she added. She further said, "For that purpose we will try our level best to organise more and more seminars and workshops in future." (ANI)
