Kashmir unrest: Curfew remains in force in parts of Valley

Srinagar, Aug 7 (ANI): In Jammu and Kashmir, the curfew will continue in Khanpora and Chadoora towns of Central Kashmir's Badgam District and Anantnag town in South Kashmir.

Kashmir unrest: Curfew remains in force in parts of Valley
Srinagar, Aug 7 (ANI): In Jammu and Kashmir, the curfew will continue in Khanpora and Chadoora towns of Central Kashmir's Badgam District and Anantnag town in South Kashmir. Restrictions under section 144 continues in other South Kashmir districts of Pulwama, Shopian and Kulgam. Similar restrictions will remain imposed in North Kashmir's Baramulla, Pattan and Sopore areas besides Kupwara and Bandipora towns. A curfew-like restrictions under section 144 will also continue in areas under five old City Police Stations and areas under Batmaloo Police Station in uptown Srinagar and Central Kashmir's Gandarbal town. The separatists sponsored shut down continues on 30th consecutive day today. Earlier, fresh clashes erupted in the Valley killing three men, raising the death toll to 53. Thousands defied curfew imposed to prevent a protest march on Friday to Hazratbal shrine in Srinagar, which is when the clashes broke out. Two youth were killed in Budgam District and in Soporr. At least 20 policemen and soldiers were also reported injured. The government had put restrictions in place in various old Srinagar areas to thwart the Friday protests in the city. Meanwhile, Separatists extended their strike call till 12 August. (ANI)
