Kashmir unrest: AIMIM in favour of talks with Hurriyat
New Delhi[India], Sept. 3 (ANI): All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen president Asaduddin Owaisi on Saturday supported the suggestion given by Communist Party of India (Marxist) general secretary Sitaram Yechury to invite the Hurriyat leaders for talks on the Kashmir issue. "I agree with the statement of Yechury. The Hurriyat leaders should also be called, we will listen to them. We have to try to bring normalcy back in Valley," Owaisi told ANI. Responding on the present situation in Kashmir, Owaisi alleged that the state government was ineffective, adding Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh failed to convince the people despite his visits to the state. Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader J.P. Yadav, however, avoided commenting on Yechury's suggestions and said the delegation will try its best to restore peace in the valley. "We stand together on matters of national unity and integrity. Environment of peace should be created and brotherhood should be promoted in Kashmir. We are going there with this belief that the ground situation would improve there post the visiting of the all-party delegation," he said. The all-party delegation chaired by the Union Home Minister will visit Kashmir tomorrow. The delegation will include 30 Members of Parliament, including Union Ministers Arun Jaitley, Dr Jitendra Singh and Ram Vilas Paswan, leaders of the opposition Ghulam Nabi Azad and Mallikarjun Kharge. JD (U) leader Sharad Yadav, Sitaram Yechury, CPI leader D. Raja, NCP's Tariq Anwar and TMC's Saugata Roy will be the part of the delegation. During the two-day visit, the MPs will interact with Governor N.N. Vohra and Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, and will also be holding meetings with representatives of all political parties and other delegations in Srinagar to bring peace in the restive valley. Other members of the delegation include Shiv Sena's Sanjay Raut, Akali Dal's Prem Singh Chandumajra, BJD's Dilip Tirkey and AIMIM's Asaduddin Owaisi. Curfew has been imposed in the valley ever since the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani on July 8. (ANI)
