Hubbali (Karnataka) [India], November 2 (ANI): Former Karnataka CM and BJP leader Basavraj Bommai slammed the Congress government in the state and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for his remarks criticising Prime Minister Narendra Modi and pointed out the economic situation of the state.
Speaking to ANI on Saturday, Bommai alleged that the Karnataka's government finances are in "doldrums" owing this to the Chief Minister's "political ambitions."
"PM Modi has been addressing the ill effects of freebies from the beginning, now Congress chief Kharge has realised that without budget support and provisions is going to finance of the state. Our CM has reacted to this with a bundle of lies. because of these freebies, the state's finances are in doldrums, he has taken more than Rs 1 lakh crore loan last year and this year as well because of his political ambitions, he is not trying to see the truth," he said.
Earlier on Friday, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his remarks regarding Congress' promises in Karnataka, accusing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of leaving the state with a legacy of corruption and debt.
In a post on X, Siddaramaiah claimed that the Congress government has fulfilled all five guarantees made to the people, allocating over Rs 52,000 crore and an additional Rs 52,903 crore for capital outlay to build Karnataka's future.
"@narendramodi, before pointing fingers at Congress, take a hard look at @BJP4Karnataka's disastrous legacy in Karnataka! We are fulfilling every promise we made to our people all five guarantees implemented with a budget exceeding Rs 52,000 crores, and an additional Rs 52,903 crore in capital outlay to build Karnataka's future," he said.
The Chief Minister further said that resources that could have improved Karnataka's quality of life were diverted by the BJP's 40 per cent commission corruption, and that his government is using that 40 per cent to help the people.
Siddaramaiah criticised the BJP's achievements under PM Modi's leadership, pointing out that India's debt is projected to reach Rs 185.27 trillion by FY25, a staggering 56.8 per cent of Gross Domestic Product (GDP). He argued that this is not just bad governance but a burden on every Indian's back. (ANI)
