Kapil Sharma should have filed complaint instead of taking to social media: BJP
Mumbai [India], Sept. 9 (ANI): Taking a dig at TV host Kapil Sharma on his comment claiming to have been asked to pay a bribe to construct his office, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Ram Kadam asserted that the comedian should have followed protocol and filed a complaint instead of lashing out on social media. "The entire population of this country needs to join the campaign to make India corruption free. Kapil Sharma is such a good actor. He should have filed a complaint Why didn't he? If he has already paid the bribe, it wasn't the right thing to do and if he didn't, we applaud him," added Kadam. On being questioned about why Kapil Sharma took to social media and blamed the Prime Minister, instead of filing a complaint with the appropriate officials, Kadam said that the answer could be two fold, "It could be an exercise to create a havoc for no reason or a means to stop the corruption perpetuating in the country," he said. Asserting that there's nothing wrong with taking to social media but one should always file a complaint first, Kadam said that he was going to file the complaint himself on Sharma's behalf as the Constitution gives him the right to do so. The BJP leader vehemently stated that the Government will not forgive the accused, adding that there will be a strict inquiry into the matter and he will himself go to the police station to ensure that this takes place. "We will call Kapil Sharma. We will call the BMC (Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation) officers. Let's see what the work was. Who was asking for money? Who is the accused and what is the crime?" added Kadam. Kadam also recently tweeted that he has filed a complaint with the cyber cell in the Kapil Sharma tweet issue and the DCP cyber cell has assured him to forward the complaint to anti corruption bureau. Comedian Kapil Sharma has claimed that he was asked to pay a bribe by a BMC official for his new office that is under construction. He has over 6.2 million followers on Twitter and vented his ire on the social media platform. In a tweet tagging the Prime Minister, he lamented that despite paying taxes for the last 15 years, he was expected to cough up a bribe of Rs 5 lakh. The BMC vigilance chief engineer Manohar Pawar and the Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis have both responded to Sharma and assured that they are looking into the matter. While Pawar asked Sharma to make a formal complaint and name the officer who demanded bribe from him, the Chief Minister tweeted. "I am paying 15 cr income tax from last 5 year n still i have to pay 5 lacs bribe to BMC office for making my office @narendramodi. Yeh hain aapke achhe din ? @narendramodi," Sharma said in a series of tweets. In response, Fadnavis tweeted saying, "Kapilbhai pls provide all info. Have directed MC,BMC to take strictest action. We will not spare the culprit." (ANI)
