Patna (Bihar) [India], September 13 (ANI): Ahead of the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, the BJP organised a Core Committee meeting under the leadership of BJP National President JP Nadda and BJP National Organisation General Secretary BL Santosh with BJP leaders and ministers in Patna on Saturday.
Bihar BJP State President Dilip Jaiswal said that Nadda expressed satisfaction with the NDA government's performance in Bihar, noting it has sent a positive message among voters.
He said that the meeting strategised for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections focused on reviewing the NDA workers' conference at the assembly level and brainstorming ways to communicate effectively with voters across Bihar.
Discussions centered on how leaders can fulfill their responsibilities to reach out to as many people as possible. Plans were made to prepare a list of government works at the regional level, with detailed information to be shared with local populations.
Dilip Jaiswal said, "Today, a meeting was held by BJP National President JP Nadda and BJP National Organisation General Secretary B L Santosh with BJP leaders and ministers, and detailed discussions took place on the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections. The review of the NDA workers' conference being held at the assembly level was also conducted. Opinions of leaders were also sought on how all leaders should fulfill their respective responsibilities so that we can communicate with as many people as possible. Our National President expressed satisfaction that the NDA government is doing very good work in Bihar. The NDA government has marked every problem and solved them. This has sent a good message among the voters of Bihar. A list will be prepared at the regional level regarding the works done by the government, and detailed information about it will be provided to the people of that area."
Nadda's visit is part of BJP's preparations ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi scheduled to visit Bihar on September 15. Jaiswal further said that the meeting was focused on how to improve communication between the BJP leaders and NDA alliance members.
He further said that a 'Sewa Pakhwada' would be organised from September 15 on the occasion of PM Modi's birthday.
Both deputy CMs of Bihar, along with Union ministers Nityanand Rai, Giriraj Singh and many other leaders, were present in this meeting.
Earlier, Union Minister JP Nadda, during a conclave in Patna on Saturday, lambasted the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), questioning whether the Bihar Assembly's Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav ever apologised for remarks made by his father and RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav on road development.
Addressing a gathering in Patna, Nadda recalled Lalu's controversial statement that building roads would only allow police to reach faster.
The Union Minister said, "In the name of development, Lalu Yadav gave a statement that if we build a road, the police will reach you quickly. So many years have passed, and I want to ask, did Tejashwi Yadav apologise to the people of Bihar?"
He added that such thinking reflected a mindset against progress. "Vo kis tareeke se soch sakte hai ki vo Bihar ka bhala krenge," Nadda added.
The BJP national president said Bihar had suffered under RJD's leadership and was "pushed into darkness" due to what he described as selfish politics.
"Bihar, which used to give direction to the country, which used to put forward its views with sharpness in politics, is now being pushed into darkness due to the selfish efforts of some people and wrong leadership. We all know about Jungle Raj, but whenever we discuss it, people ask us to forget it. Jungle Raj, appeasement, and casteism have all plagued Bihar," he said.
Bihar Assembly elections are expected to be held later this year, in October or November; however, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has not yet announced an official date.
While the NDA, comprising the BJP, JD(U), and LJP, aims to continue its tenure in Bihar, the INDIA bloc, comprising the RJD, Congress, and left parties, seeks to oust Nitish Kumar.
In the current Bihar Assembly of 243 members, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) consists of 131, with the BJP having 80 MLAs, JD(U)-45, HAM(S)-4, with the support of 2 Independent Candidates.
The Opposition's INDIA Bloc comprises 111 members, with the RJD leading with 77 MLAs, followed by Congress with 19, CPI(ML) with 11, CPI(M) with 2, and CPI with 2. (ANI)
