Jobs, admissions on fake certificate won't be sustained if found guilty: SC
New Delhi [India], July 06 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Thursday held that the jobs and admissions secured on fake caste certificates in reserved categories cannot be sustained if they were found to be guilty subsequently. The apex court said that did not agree with the Bombay High Court ruling that if a person continues in a job procured on the basis of fake caste certificate for a long period, he or she can be allowed to remain in service. In its order the top court put a deterrence against the misuse of the caste certificate or a fake certificate, saying if it is found forged, the person will lose both. The verdict came in response to a batch of petitions. One of them was a challenge by the Maharashtra Government against the Bombay High Court order. Reportedly, the Centre had earlier said that those employees who got jobs through forged backward caste certificates will be dismissed. The Centre also directed all the central government departments to gather details about any such appointments on the basis of fake caste certificate from numerous organisations.(ANI)
