Job fair attracts large number of aspirants in Imphal
Imphal (Manipur) [India], Mar. 31 (ANI): Northeast has a huge potential in many sectors in bringing development in the region. It has a high range in literacy rate compared with other parts of the country. However, due to lack of proper facilities and infrastructure, the region has a huge problem of unemployment. The Centre has initiated to address the issue by organizing a job fair in collaboration with National Institute of Electronics And Information Technology (NIELIT) in Imphal, which attracted a huge number of job seekers from the state. Organized by the NIELIT Model Career Centre, in collaboration with National Career Service Ministry, Ministry of Labour and Employment, more than 600 job seekers have registered at the job fair. "By using the Information Technology, we are targeting job seekers and job providers. They have to be placed in an electronic platform so that the job seeker can get the job as well as the job provider gets the job seeker electronically. We never expected this many number of people; earlier we expected only 300 but now it has crossed 600," Haobam Rajendra Singh, Manager, Model career Centre, NIELIT said. As many as 16 companies from Manipur and other metropolitan cities ranging from automobile, healthcare, development, banking, hospitality, IT sectors participated in the fair. At the fair, the companies recruited for their vacant posts as per their recruitment rules, ranging from uneducated skilled labourers, class 10 and 12 passed, graduates to post graduates, MBAs. "I am very happy for providing such a platform because now many unemployed youth of Manipur can avail the opportunities and get employment through this. Today, I have applied for three companies such as ICICI bank, Saingai Honda and Info Trade and I am interested in web designing since I love creativity," Nahakpam Suraj, jobseeker said. "It is a good platform for us, and during the interview also, there is openness and they gave us information which we were not aware of. So it is a great platform to interact with and learn a lot from here apart from providing job opportunities," Linthoi, another job seeker said. (ANI)
