JNU missing student: Congress-AAP join hands to attack Centre, Delhi police
New Delhi[India], Nov. 3(ANI): The opposition in unison on Thursday attacked the Delhi Police and Central government for their actions regarding the case of JNU student Najeeb Ahmed, who continues to remain untraced for nearly 20 days, as students at the University staged a protest which was attended by Congress and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) members. "Why there has been no serious investigation of the events of that night. There must be independent investigation looks in detail investigation. Why was the campus was not searched immediately after the report of the student's disappearance was received? There should have been a thorough search and that has not happened for a long time," Congress leader Shashi Tharoor said addressing the gathering. "For those in authority which is in a position to do something, other concerns come before the well being of a missing human being. That is why you are right to demand justice for Najeeb. Nobody vanishes for 20 days without a reason and that reason must be established," he added. Joining the chorus with the congress speaker, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal also launched an attack on Delhi Police for being biased towards ABVP workers involved in the incident. "Najeeb had a fist fight with workers of ABVP in front of the warden and suddenly disappeared but no inquiry has been conducted. Message is clear that RSS, ABVP and BJP's hooliganism can go scot free and anyone who raises their voice against them would be curbed by the regime," Kejriwal added. Students at the Jawaharlal Nehru University on Thursday staged a protest over missing student Najeeb Ahmed, who continues to remain untraced for nearly 20 days. About 150-200 students gathered at the administrative block inside the campus and voiced their concern about Ahmed's safety. The students urged university officials to bring those who allegedly attacked him to book. Ahmed went missing on the intervening night of October 14-15 after allegedly being beaten up by a mob of 20 students, who had gone campaigning to his room for hostel elections. (ANI)
