Ranchi (Jharkhand) [India], June 10 (ANI): Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader and former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren's wife, Kalpana Soren on Monday sworn in as an MLA from Gandey assembly constituency in Jharkhand.
While speaking to the media the newly elected MLA from Gandey assembly constituency Kalpana Soren said, "We have less time as assembly elections are approaching...The public of Jharkhand has extended love and support to us...Every worker of the Mahagathbandhan alliance will fulfil his responsibility."
Jharkhand Health Minister Banna Gupta expressed happiness on JMM leader Kalpana Soren's swearing-in as MLA from the Gandey assembly constituency and claimed that in the coming time, JMM's government will be formed again in Jharkhand with a full majority.
"Kalpana Soren is a very intelligent, educated woman. She was a housewife but after the way her husband was humiliated, tortured and sent to jail, she came out to fulfil her husband's responsibility and protect the people... She has won the election from Gandey... In the coming time, our government will be formed again in Jharkhand and it will be with full majority," he told ANI.
Kalpana Soren won from the Gandey assembly constituency by 109827 votes in the bye-election.
In the 2024 Lok Sabha election JMM was only able to win 3 seats only. While BJP won 8, Congress won 2.
Hemant Soren was arrested by the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) on January 31, in connection with an alleged land scam in Jharkhand.
The probe pertains to huge amounts of proceeds of crime generated by forging official records by showing 'fake sellers' and purchasers in the guise of forged or bogus documents to acquire huge parcels of land valued in crores of rupees. (ANI)
