Dhanwar (Jharkhand) [India], October 20 (ANI): In a sharp criticism of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Jharkhand president and party candidate from Dhanwar constituency, Babulal Marandi, accused the JMM of plundering the state's resources over the past five years. He claimed that they had spared nothing, looting sand, coal, and land belonging to both Adivasis and the army.
"The election has been announced in Jharkhand. We were already working, but now everyone will intensify their efforts in their respective constituencies... BJP will form the government in Jharkhand... Such is the extent of corruption and looting in the state that even government offices have become centres of extortion... People have been waiting for election day, eager for the chance to vote and change the government," Marandi stated.
"There will be a transformation in Jharkhand. The JMM government has done nothing but loot the state over the last five years. The people of Jharkhand will not make the mistake of voting for corrupt leaders again. They've looted everything--sand, stones, coal, and land. Whether it's land belonging to Adivasis or the army, they've left nothing untouched," Marandi added.
Earlier on Saturday, the BJP announced its first list of 66 candidates for the Jharkhand elections, as the ruling JMM-led alliance finalised the seat-sharing arrangement.
The BJP will contest the upcoming Jharkhand assembly elections in alliance with the All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU), Janata Dal (United) (JD-U), and Lok Janshakti Party (LJP). The BJP will field candidates in 68 seats, AJSU in 10 seats, JD-U in two seats, and LJP in one seat.
Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren also announced on Saturday that the INDIA bloc would contest the Jharkhand Assembly polls together, with the JMM and Congress fielding candidates in 70 of the 81 seats.
Hemant Soren further mentioned that the remaining seats would be contested by other parties in the INDIA alliance, with ongoing discussions involving the RJD and Left parties.
Notably, elections will be held for all 81 seats in the Jharkhand assembly in two phases, on November 13 and November 20. (ANI)
