Jitendra Singh slams Oppn, says India for constructive govt., polity

New Delhi [India], Mar. 12 (ANI): Asserting that India is now looking for a constructive government and polity which can ensure a safe, good and prosperous future, Minister of State in Prime Minister's Office (PMO) Jitendra Singh today said that the opposition parties post the humiliating defeat in Uttar Pradesh will now have to rethink and introspect about the kind of mindset that was prompting them to follow this politics of disruption. Singh told ANI that the nation backed demonetisation because they knew the long-term benefits of this move. "The entire country is standing in support of demonetisation and notwithstanding the initial hardship that the people had to go through. They were still willing to cooperate because they knew the long-term benefits of this," he said. Taking a jibe at the Congress, Singh said the grand old party thought that the best way to oppose was to disrupt the functioning of the government. "Unfortunately, I think somewhere the Congress Party and some of its allies have lost the plot. They had been doing so for the last two years ever since this government came," he said. Singh further said the opposition parties did not realise that it was not going well with the people of this country. "We had in fact at that time also tried to suggest that all the issues which are of the interest of the common man, which do not involve any conflict or any contradiction, it is the responsibility of all the political parties to come together," Singh said. "But I think they did not and, therefore, as we had predicted even at that time, people of this country would not have forgiven anybody who opposed demonetisation or a series of other reforms brought in by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to benefit the last man in the last queue," he added. Singh further said that the opposition parties would now have to rethink and introspect about the kind of mind set that was prompting them to follow this politics of disruption. "The India of today which is dominantly the youth India is no longer ready to live with critical opposition. It is looking for a constructive government and polity which can ensure a safe, good, prosperous future for it," he said. Breaking all previous records, the BJP bagged two-third majority in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. The BJP won with a clear majority in Uttarakhand with 57 seats in the 70-member assembly, ousting the Congress led by Harish Rawat. In politically crucial Uttar Pradesh, the saffron party witnessed an unprecedented victory with 321 seats, while the Congress-Samajwadi party alliance bagged 54, the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) got 19 and others 18 seats respectively.
