Ranchi (Jharkhand) [India], November 20 (ANI): As voting for the second phase of the assembly elections was about to conclude in Jharkhand, Union Minister and BJP's election-in-charge, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, on Wednesday accused the ruling JMM-led alliance of "cheating" the people of the state.
Chouhan claimed the alliance had failed to provide jobs, made women unsafe, and allowed "infiltrators" to take up resources, urging voters to support the NDA alliance to bring change.
Chouhan said that due to these problems, the people had decided to vote for the NDA, calling for a "prosperous, developed, safe, and infiltrator-free Jharkhand."
"I urge everyone to vote for a prosperous, developed, safe and infiltrators-free Jharkhand. BJP-NDA govt will change the face of Jharkhand and the fate of the people. You can already see the results -- BJP-NDA is forming the government. People are angry, and that is why they are defeating this corrupt, anti-people government," Chouhan said.
As constituencies in Jharkhand vote in the second phase, the Union Minister told ANI, "'Roti, Beti, Maati' in Jharkhand are in trouble. JMM-Congress Govt has cheated the youth in the name of jobs. The honour of women is not safe. Infiltrators are taking over resources. The law and order situation is bad. People are pained due to massive corruption."
According to Election Commission of India's data, Jharkhand has recorded a turnout of 61.47 per cent till 3 pm, with Pakur district with the highest turnout of 69.31 per cent, while Dhanbad with the lowest turnout of 56.32 per cent.
Earlier, Chief Minister Hemant Soren's wife and JMM candidate from the Gandey Assembly seat, Kalpana Soren expressed her confidence in the victory of the Mahagathbandhan alliance, stating that the people of the state will vote for Hemant Soren.
Speaking to ANI, Kalpana Soren said, "I am confident about my victory as I have worked very hard for the people of Gandey...In the next 5 years, I would like to continue the work...People in the state are going to vote for Hemant Soren and our Mahagathbandhan (alliance)." (ANI)
