Jhansi (Uttar Pradesh) [India], May 14 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh's former Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party (SP) chief, Akhilesh Yadav, targeted the Yogi Acdityanath government in the state and said that the farmers under Bhartiya Janata Party's rule (BJP) are now in trouble. He also claimed that the people of Jhansi are preparing for the BJPs 'Vidai ki Jhanki.'
Addressing a public rally in Jhansi, Akhilesh Yadav also claimed that the BJP is falling. He said, "Four phases of elections are over and BJP's graph is falling. The people of Jhansi are preparing for BJP's 'vidai ki jhanki'."
Taking a jibe at the Central government, Yadav said, "Those who were talking about doubling farmers' incomes, the farmers are now in trouble under their government."
Addressing the farmers and youth of Jhansi, the former UP CM said, "The farmers and youth of Jhansi must know that in the 10 years of governance, the farmers were looted and the money of farmers reached the pockets of BJP... Inflation surged, diesel prices doubled, and electricity prices soared."
Slamming the farmers' laws, Yadav claimed that the laws would have snatched the land and yield of the farmers. He said, "Instead of giving amenities, the government brought black laws. These laws posed a threat to farmers' land and yields. But, the farmers protested. They went to Delhi and came back only after the government retracted those laws."
Confident of INDIA's victory in the elections, Akhilesh Yadav also said that when the alliance comes into power, the Agniveer Scheme will be scrapped. "After June 4, INDIA will form the government, and the doors to employment will open up. The Agniveer Scheme will be scrapped forever."
Yadav also stepped up his attacks on the BJP over inflation and talked about an increase in the prices of medicines. The SP chief also targeted the government over vaccines and said, "They administered the vaccines by force and now, you must have heard that those who took the vaccines can suffer from heart ailments."
Akhilesh Yadav also attacked the BJP in a post on X. Taking to his official X handle, Yadav slammed the BJP for spending 100 crores on Google Ads for advertising.
Yadav tweeted, "BJP has made a record of spending 100 crores on Google Ads for advertising. Actually, this is public money, which on one hand, the corrupt BJP has collected from companies in the form of election donations and the companies have collected it from the public in the form of profit, and on the other hand, the BJP has collected it directly from the public by creating a fraudulent care fund during Corona. This is not only a play with the public money, but also with the sentiments of the public."
Criticising BJP, Akhilesh Yadav said that the party has become bankrupt in the name of votes. "BJP thinks that elections are not won by votes but by money and corruption. This time, the public has dispelled all the confusion by defeating the BJP in all the four phases and by the time the seventh phase comes, there will be no one left to take the name of BJP. BJP has become bankrupt in the name of votes."
Notably, SP and Congress are allies in the opposition INDIA bloc formed to take on the BJP in the ongoing 2024 general elections.
Voting for phases one, two, three, and four were held on April 19, April 26, May 7, and May 13 respectively.
The Uttar Pradesh electorate will also vote in phases five, six, and seven on May 20, May 23 and June 1 respectively. The votes will be counted on June 4.
Uttar Pradesh will witness the fifth phase of Lok Sabha elections on May 20. This time, Jhansi, Amethi, Raebareli, Lucknow, Kaiserganj, Jalaun, Hamirpur, Banda, Fatehpur, Kaushambi, Barabanki, Faizabad, and Mohanlalganj will go to the polls.
In Jhansi, BJP's Anurag Sharma, is pitted against Congress' Pradeep Jain Aditya.
In the 2019 polls, the BJP emerged triumphant, securing 62 out of 80 seats in Uttar Pradesh, while two seats were clinched by its ally Apna Dal (S). Mayawati's BSP managed to secure 10 seats, while Akhilesh Yadav's SP garnered five and the Congress Party secured only one seat. (ANI)
