Jayalaithaa speaking with the help of aid at the moment: Appollo Hospitals chairman
Chennai [India], Nov.25 (ANI): Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J.Jayalalithaa is absolutely well and recuperating, said Apollo Hospitals chairman Dr. Pratap C Reddy, while adding that she is speaking with the help of a speaker as she underwent a tracheostomy surgery. "With tracheostomy she can't speak but with tracheostomy we added a speaker. With those we train them to speak with the help of a speaker. But in her case it is going to be a temporary and I don't think she need to go through that nor do we spend time training her on her speech," Reddy told the medi here. Reddy also said that the Chief Minister is undergoing whole body physiotherapy and the doctors are encouraging her to do exercise. "This is a set pattern. For each organ we have a specific way of doing physiotherapy. And now next thing is to see that she stands up and walks," Reddy added. He said that the chief minister was shifted out of the Intensive Care Unit after the doctors felt that all of her organs were recovering. "I am glad to say that all of my wonderful team of doctors, some of them who never went home for a weeks, so with all of their support we could give back all the organs which had severe problems, now all have been solved, now what's happening is for her to return back now," Reddy said. Jayalalithaa, 68-year-old, was shifted to a special room from the intensive critical care unit on November 19. She was admitted to Appollo hospital on September 22 with complaints of "fever and dehydration." She was later put on respiratory support and treated with antibiotics for infection and lung congestion. (ANI)
