Patna (Bihar) [India], October 8 (ANI): Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and former Bihar deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav said on Tuesday that everyone was surprised with the Haryana elections results.
Claiming that even Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini body language was not confident in the run up to the Assembly elections, the RJD leader said, "It did not look like Haryana will have this kind of atmosphere, but if you see then everyone is really surprised, even BJP's workers and leaders were not confident from the start. Chief Minister Saini had himself said that if need be then we will form a coalition and make a government. His body language was not confident."
Earlier on October 6, Haryana CM had said that the BJP will form the government alone, but if needed they will give an alliance a thought.
"We will not need any kind of alliance; I have said from the very beginning that the BJP will form the government alone. We have all the arrangements. I am confident that BJP will alone form the government but if we need that (alliance) we will give it a thought; we have all the arrangements," said CM Saini while addressing a press conference.
The RJD leader further said,"This result is very surprising, but janta malik hai, jo malik ka hokum (the people are the boss, whatever the boss wishes)."
In the Haryana assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 48 seats, while the Indian National Congress (INC) secured 36 seats and is leading in 1 more, bringing its total to 37. The Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) managed to win 2 seats, and 3 Independent candidates were successful. This brings the total number of seats to 90.
He further criticised the BJP and claimed that the party cannot come to power in the state so they have resorted to smearing his name instead while trying to get in power.
"I laugh sometimes, at the fear BJP and its allies have of RJD and Tejashwi. They want to smear our image in any way possible. We did whatever we said we would do, when we talked about employment then we gave that. I can tell you, BJP cannot come to power on their own, and they want to smear my name and come to power that way," he said.
He also said that there have been false allegations put on him by the BJP, however, he said that he challenges them to call investigative agencies like Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to come investigate him.
"I always tell them the investigative agencies are yours, bring ED and CBI, I challenge them on that. Where is your ED, CBI? Anyone is putting allegations without proof. Before the allegations told to Bhawan Nirman Vibhag, anyone random comes and gives a statement and you people (media persons) also publish it, this is not right. One should verify and then present the things, but any small politician which does not know the truth says this. I still have video recordings, I haven't shifted yet," he said.
On Monday, the BJP Media in-charge Danish Iqbal launched a scathing attack on Tejashwi Yadav's 'upbringing and mentality', alleging that items of furniture, light fixtures and air conditioners from the bungalow that the RJD leader vacated have gone missing.
"The base of the bed is missing, the AC and lights have been removed, and the water outlets in the washroom have been taken out. Even the badminton court mat has been taken, and the fountain lights and sofas have been taken. It's clear that when Tejashwi Yadav vacated the house, he took everything with him. This speaks volumes about his mentality," Danish Iqbal said.
"I'm not just accusing him, but it is completely proven. The way Tejaswi Yadav vacated his official residence, shows his upbringing. The way he vacated the house, he has displayed how to loot government's property," he added. (ANI)
