J-K: Muslims offer prayers at Hazratbal shrine to bring peace
Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], Apr 25 (ANI): Thousands of Kashmiri Muslims offered prayers on Tuesday at the Hazratbal shrine on the occasion of 'Meraj-ul-Alam' to overcome problems caused due to the present turmoil in Jammu and Kashmir's Budgam district. Every year they participate in large number on the religious occasion, but due to the unrest in the state caused by the terrorist attack, this year the devotees has reduced in number. Gulzar Ahmad, a devotee at the shrine told ANI, "I come here every year to the holy wisdom. This year our special prayers have been to reduce the tension caused in the nation and to bring peace." Hundreds of devotees, comprising men, women and children converged at the shrine housing the holy relic of Prophet Muhammad throughout the day. The government has kept in place an adequate number of State Road Transport Corporation buses for the to and fro movement of the devotees to Hazratbal as the areas around the shrine wore a festive look with many roadside vendors selling a whole lot of eatables and other items.
