Thane (Maharashtra) [India], Sept 15 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) working president J P Nadda on Sunday said that the elections in Jammu and Kashmir would be held only after the delimitation of the constituencies.
"Jammu and Kashmir has been given the status of a Union Territory but it will also have a legislature. Elections will be held. But before that, there will be delimitation of constituencies. Scheduled Tribes seats will also be reserved for Gujjars and Bakarwals," said Nadda.
The BJP working president made this statement while addressing a public gathering here.
He said the Article 370 was the mistake of the first Prime Minister of India Jawahar Lal Nehru.
"Pakistan tried to raise the issue in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) but diplomats of over 100 countries supported India's stand that Jammu and Kashmir is an internal issue of the country and will remain so," Nadda added.
Last month, the Centre nullified the provision of Article 370, which gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir and bifurcated it into two Union Territories -- Ladakh, and Jammu and Kashmir. (ANI)
