"It's not correct to insult one section of people": Telangana Governor condemns comments against 'Sanatan Dharma'

Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], September 9 (ANI): Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan on Friday condemned the comments of Tamil Nadu Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin and others against Sanatan Dharma and said that it's not correct to insult one section of the people.
"There are a significant number of people who believe in that ideology, following it and it's a disciplined way of life. They think that Sanatan means only caste system. They project only in that way. So many good things are there," she said.
"Politically, they are benefitted by such talk. For the past 50 years, they have been doing that. I think it is not correct to insult one section of the people. As a common citizen of Tamil Nadu, I want to ask the CM, why he doesn’t wish people on Diwali, why discriminate one section. Our PM wishes everyone and I wish everyone," Soundararajan added.
On September 2, speaking at a public event, Udhayanidhi Stalin called for the 'eradication' of Sanatan Dharma and compared the same with diseases like dengue and malaria.
Later, the statement sparked massive controversy across the nation with several leaders demanding an apology from Stalin.
Extending her support to the Women Reservation Bill, the Telangana Governor said that women should come forward and they should be given higher designation.
"As a woman, we all are for reservation and one of our concerns is that women should come forward and they should be given higher designation. Nowadays women have gained a lot of importance, they are highly qualified. I feel if women are given reservations, then more women will come into the field. As a woman I will always support it," she said.
Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLC K Kavitha on Tuesday wrote a letter to the chiefs of all 47 political parties including West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, calling upon them to set aside political differences and prioritise the passage of the Women's Reservation Bill in the upcoming special session of Parliament.
The Women's Reservation Bill seeks to reserve 33 per cent of seats in the Lok Sabha and state legislative assemblies for women. Despite being a crucial step towards gender parity and inclusive governance, the Bill has remained in legislative limbo for far too long. (ANI)
