New Delhi [India], May 22 (ANI): After Congress leader Rahul Gandhi targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of creating two Indias where justice is dependent on wealth, BJP leader Sudhanshu Trivedi on Wednesday said that the statement of the Wayanad MP shows his mentality.
Hitting out at the Congress party, the BJP leader said that the judicial system was under the leader during the Congress government.
"If Rahul Gandhi says this, it shows his mentality. Does the judicial system come under the leader? It must have been during their govt. I remember that his grandmother said that there should be a committed judiciary. And if it's about the judicial system being costly, you have sent the costliest advocates to the parliament who charge lakhs, ask your friends to help make the system cheaper," Trivedi said.
Trivedi's statement comes after Rahul Gandhi posted a video on X, saying that "Narendra Modi is creating two India - where even justice is dependent on wealth."
He said that the Pune rash driving case in which two people were killed and how the accused belonging to a rich family was treated (given bail) while a bus driver or an auto driver was sentenced to ten years in prison in the same case.
"Bus driver, Truck driver, Ola, Uber, and auto drivers. If they mistakenly kill somebody...then they are sentenced to ten years in prison. and throw away the key. But if a 17-year-old boy belonging to a rich family is driving a Porsche car under the influence of alcohol and kills two people, He is asked to write in a particular way," Rahul Gandhi said in a video message posted on his official social media account.
"(Prime Minister) Narendra Modi was asked if two India are being created. One of rich people and the other of poor people. He answered, 'Should I make all the people poor'. The question is about justice. Both the rich and the poor should get justice. Everyone should get justice. That is, why we are fighting against injustice," the Congress leader added.
The accident, which occurred in the early hours of Sunday after a luxury car collided with their motorcycle near Kalyani Nagar in Pune, resulted in the untimely demise of two young people. The driver was a minor, who was apprehended but later given bail by the Juvenile Justice Board on condition to work with the traffic police of Yerawada for 15 days, write an essay on the accident; and get treatment from the concerned doctor to help him quit drinking; and he should take psychiatric counselling and submit a report.
Sudhanshu Trivedi also attacked the Aam Aadmi Party after the rejection of the bail petitions moved by Aam Aadmi Party leader and former Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia, in liquor policy cases.
He said that no statements are being made or programs are being organized for Manish Sisodia but all for Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal's former personal secretary Bibhav Kumar who technically doesn't have any position in the party.
"Delhi HC in Manish Sisodia's bail plea issue says that this is a grave misuse of power and breach of trust. The court said that the policy formulation and deviated from the expert committee report constituted by Sisodia. The possibility of tampering with the evidence can't be ruled out. In respect of the PMLA case, the court has said that the prosecution was able to make out a prima facie case of money laundering. Legally, it is been consistently, categorically, and irrefutably gradually established but morally we are perplexed," he said.
"No statements are being made or programs are being organized for Manish Sisodia but all for Bibhav Kumar. The legal question will be answered by the court but we are asking the answers to the political and moral questions from Kejriwal. Why's there no protest and program for Sisodia who was the deputy CM of your government but everything for Bibhav Kumar who technically doesn't have any position in the party?" the BJP leader added.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is facing heat amid the ongoing Swati Maliwal investigation, in which the party MP has accused party chief Arvind Kejriwal's former personal secretary Bibhav Kumar of assaulting her at the Delhi Chief Minister's residence. (ANI)
