Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) [India], August 27 (ANI): Reacting to the incident in Madhya Pradesh where a Dalit youth was allegedly beaten to death in Sagar, state minister Bhupendra Singh on Sunday said that the truth will come out in the investigation and the incident should not be politicised.
Speaking to ANI, Bhupendra Singh said, "The incident is unfortunate. All accused in the FIR have been arrested. This was not an atrocity. It was a long conflict between the two parties. There was a fight because of the conflict. The truth will come out after the investigation. There was a conflict for a long, and there were court cases running. This should not be seen from any other angle. This should not be politicised."
Earlier on Thursday a youth who was beaten to death was identified as Nitin Ahirwar (18) in Sagar district.
In this regard, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led state government for the incident and said that devotees of Guru Ravidas are being targetted in Madhya Pradesh.
"In Sagar district of Madhya Pradesh, where PM Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the memorial of Saint Guru Ravidas with great fanfare, in the same area atrocities against Guru Ravidas’s devotees are at its peak. It is proof of the dual character of the BJP and its government,” Mayawati wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter)
Meanwhile, Congress leader Kamal Nath said that the Sagar district has become a laboratory of Dalit oppression for the BJP.
"In the Shivraj government, especially Sagar district is becoming a laboratory of Dalit oppression. I caution the Chief Minister to leave prejudice towards Dalit society, walk on the path of justice and provide proper security to the victim families in the state. Appropriate compensation should be given to Sagar's victim's family," he said.
On the death of a youth, ASP Sagar Lokesh Kumar said that a case has been registered under section 302 of IPC and a few people have been taken into custody.
"In the Khurai police station area, youth had an issue with some people due to an old conflict. The other side attacked him with sticks. He was taken to the hospital where he was declared dead. An FIR has been registered under section 302 a search for the accused is underway. Few accused have been taken into custody and further action is being taken," he said. (ANI)
