IT raids Delhi law firm, recovers Rs. 2.60 crores in new currency

New Delhi [India], Dec. 11 (ANI): In a joint raid conducted by the Income Tax Department and the Delhi Police a law firm in Delhi's Greater Kailash area, an approximate of 13.50 crores has been seized out which 2.61 crores is in the new currency of Rs. 2000.

New Delhi [India], Dec. 11 (ANI): In a joint raid conducted by the Income Tax Department and the Delhi Police a law firm in Delhi's Greater Kailash area, an approximate of 13.50 crores has been seized out which 2.61 crores is in the new currency of Rs. 2000. Acting on a tip-off, the police recovered the currency from the T&T law firm owned by Rohit Tondon late on Saturday night. "We received information which we shared with the Income Tax department and jointly raided this place. Till now, we have seized around Rs. 10 crore rupees out of which Rs. 2.5 crore are new currencies and Rs. 7.5 crores in old currency," Assistant Commissioner of Police, Inter-State Cell Sanjay Sehrawat told media. Meanwhile, the seized currency has been handed over to the Income Tax Department and rough estimates show that out of the total, seven crores are in notes of 1000, three crores in 100 and the remaining amount is in notes of 50 and 500 etc. The police said the investigation is in process and all those guilty are being aggressively pursued.
